El poder de la Mujer | photoshoot featuring Connie Gomez

Mothers Arise is a monthly photo series that celebrates incredible mamas who rise to the occasion by juggling relationships, work life, house chores, and child rearing, all while reaching for their goals. Each month a new local mom is featured. All the women participating in this project come from different walks of life and stand at different stages in their journey. They are entrepreneurs, artists, creators, and success stories in the making, but most of all they are dreamers - like you and me. My wish is that through this project, those moms who may have taken a different direction along their journey to raise babies, can know that it is never too late to build a new road and get back to it. This is a project about persistence, struggle, empowerment, inspiration, and the pursuit of dreams.

Meet March's featured mama - Connie Gomez, a Mexican-American wife, mother of two, and career woman living on her own terms. Connie is a speaker,  social media influencer and story teller at Momma of Dos. She is also co-founder of Houston Latina Bloggers, a collaborative community of Latina Writers. 

Connie's shoot was inspired by the art of Anna Alvarado and in collaboration with Freckled Creations, and Uno by Mitch. These photos are all about the female empowerment movement that currently sweeps the globe. My goal was to portray 'El poder de la Mujer' - a female led revolution, as new age Latinas embrace the feminist movement and liberate themselves from the stigmas imposed by the macho culture. ​Read Connie's Q&A below.

Q: What is your mission?
A: My purpose is to empower Momma’s to reach their goals and follow their dreams. To educate women on self-love. 

Q: Describe your personal style
A: I’m a very casual person. I like [things] easy and simple.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like exercising, reading (when I can) and being creative. When I'm not working, I can be found relaxing and thinking about what else I can do to grow.

Q:What is your message for those reading this?
A: I'd say that motherhood isn’t the end of womanhood, it’s the beginning of new and better seasons.​
