I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting the beautiful Leslie Guzman who is a local artist, blogger, and mother. She came to my home studio in Cypress, just north of Houston, for a Mommy and Me portrait session with her adorable baby boy. Her son was just too cute for words. And those cheeks! I wanted to keep him to squish and hug. Sadly, this handsome fella had missed out on newborn portraits so this session was even more special for that reason. And the pressure was on for me to deliver! Leslie had warned me that her little guy is a bit camera shy and boy, was she right! It took a while for him to warm up to me but after lots of silly faces and goofy noises, and with some help from dad, we managed to get a few smiles out of him for several shots. We ended up with a good set of images for Leslie to enjoy. I am so glad Leslie put her trust in me to capture the love between she and her baby, even if he isn't a newborn anymore. I am happy to have taken these images for her to cherish for years to come as her little man grows up.

Mommy and Me portraits are some of my favorite to photograph (after newborns, of course!) I love seeing mom interact with her little ones and capturing the love and the bond between them. A Mommy and Me session allows mothers to see themselves from a different perspective. I find that when moms view the final result from their session with their littles, they often find themselves in tears because they too now can see what their children see in them. They see the woman, the nurturer, the unconditional giver of love, the one who has sacrificed her own body to bring life into the world. My wish is that every time they look at these photographs of themselves with their kids, they will see past the stress and fatigue of daily life and find the beauty in motherhood through their portraits; even if for a brief moment.
