Mothers Arise is a photo series celebrating incredible mamas who rise to the occasion by juggling relationships, work, their homes, and child rearing in an exceptional way. All the women participating in this project stand at different stages in their journey. They are entrepreneurs, artists, creators, and success stories in the making, but most of all they are dreamers - like you and me. I began this project as a way to shoot something that was not necessarily client work, something just for my own satisfaction. But it had to be something with a purpose. I chose to portray women who inspire, one way or another. Four months in, this project has become so much more than I had ever expected. From this series, I have gained friendships and a sense of belonging with a group of women who share similar goals and dreams, who understand the path I am on as a mother, wife, and lady boss, and who cheer me on every step of the way. Why am I telling you this? Because the road we walk, as mothers, can sometimes become a bit lonely. We get caught up in raising our kids and sometimes we forget to do something just for us. Today, do one thing just for you. Whether that is doing your makeup, or reading a book, or eating a piece of chocolate in the pantry. Take time to do something that makes you feel good, for your own satisfaction, and know that you are a good mother for it. Now, on to our featured mom...
Q: What message would you share with the women who read this blog?
A: That it's never too late to focus on you. I started my blog and photography business with zero experience after having my kids and after being away from the Finance Corporate Job for more than 10 years
Hey there! I'm Anel. Houston photographer, wife to my high school sweetheart, and mama to four wild kids who I homeschool. I love nature, motherhood, taking photos, and living a slow simple life.
